Auxiliary of Lehigh Valley Hospital—Muhlenberg
The Auxiliary of Lehigh Valley Hospital—Muhlenberg collects holiday toys for children, purchases red, heart-shaped pillows for heart surgery patients and knits soft hats for chemotherapy patients. These are just a few of the ways members make things better for hospital patients and the community.
When the hospital expanded several years ago, the auxiliary played a key role by funding a new lobby. The support began with a $200,000 gift in 2003, then $50,000 pledges each year for the next six years for a total of $500,000. More recently, the auxiliary met its annual pledge and gave two additional $10,000 donations to purchase critical health equipment to benefit patients and the community.
This level of generosity is made possible by the auxiliary's many activities: the operation of the hospital's Camille Gift Shop, annual flower and bake sales, holiday and lottery ticket raffles, a penny drive (to support the hospital's Pediatric Specialty Center) and more.
